The work
Each piece is born from the meeting of two worlds: the translucent, luminous flow of pure silk painting and the bold depth of acrylic. The lightness of watercolor and the movement of textile, brought directly onto the canvas.
The result is not a fixed image. It's a living field of light — hung traditionally or suspended from silk hooks, letting the transparency create a movement of color in the room.

The difference
- SILK PAINTING
Light passes through the pigment and returns to your eye.
The dye fuses chemically with the protein of the fiber. Light travels through the pigment, reaches the silk and reflects back — an internal, three-dimensional luminosity with a satin sheen and perfect gradients. A living fluidity no other medium reproduces.

Density, contrast and presence on the wall.
Acrylic forms a solid, opaque layer over the canvas. It is depth and gravity — the dense counterpart to silk. Bringing both languages together in a single body of work is what defines Maritza's art.

The artist
The journey began in 1995, in the line of drawing and graphic design. It was watercolor that revealed a natural gift for fluidity — and silk, discovered at Montgomery College, that became her definitive voice: watching paint run alive and free through the fibers of the cloth.
To master this language, she studied with great masters — Mônica de Godoi in São Paulo and the renowned Master Karen Sistek in Port Angeles — and refined her craft at the Boca Raton Museum Art School in Florida. Today, living by the sea, she translates the silver light of sunset over the water into every fiber of silk and every stroke of acrylic.
